-Verbal Arguments

1. Today, we are going to take a few moments and compose a verbal argument.  

** When time allows - Collaborative List of Topics

      - We will continue to work on our lists.

You will be working with a selected partner

You must create a SOAPSTONE and outline before you begin

**Use the 5 paragraph essay outline form and just type soapstone on the same sheet.

-Plan arguments/ reasons - make sure they support your thesis,  avoid bias, provide clear detail


1. Topic-  Learning Methods- Traditional and Alternative

**POSITIVE- You must defend why it's a better option than the other methods listed below

**NEGATIVE: Note You must prove why it's negative, and create a better recommendation

-Both sides must provide personal examples

1. Create an overarching thesis for your Argument

You can't just state:  Hybrid education is better than in-person....(You must establish your reason/ stance)

-I want to hear a solid stance for each argument....You will prove ONE very specific point about your method of education.

(If your thesis is going to be for/ against - give ONE provable reason WHY to serve as your thesis.)

2. Remember to establish a line of reasoning

-Explain the situation

-Intro examples-

-give specific details about the examples

-Connect back to thesis

-Transition
