Sunday, 4/18- Graded/ Timed FRQ - Synthesis AP Progress Check Essay.

Synthesis Review:

1. Thesis - pick a side with the most evidence

(Provable statement that includes purpose.  *Clarity)

DO NOT RESTATE THE TEXT

2. Three part parallel blueprint in your opening paragraph

3. Body

-Claim (using your blueprint claims in order)

-Evidence- Support your claim using the given sources

-(Always cite your sources (Source A)  or According to Source A

-Embed your evidence:  A. Introduce evidence   

                                       B. State your quote/ evidence

                                        C. Support your claim/ give it purpose so that each paragraph develops a line of                                                reasoning that will prove your thesis.

                                          **You may offer counter arguments to incorporate sources that disagree with                                               your point.  Refute the counter argument.

4. Conclusion - Not just a simple summary

-  End with a new insight that you haven't mentioned

-Make sure your final points tie your entire essay together and prove your thesis

5. Use transitional statements to link your examples-  This will allow your ideas to connect and flow

Evidence:

Prove your point/ stance

-Highlight as you read/ notate

- create a quick outline before writing the essay


DO NOT:

-Use personal pronouns (ex:  We, I)

-DON'T RESTATE/ PROVE
