Summer Assignment 2024 due August 12, 2024 @ midnight

 ALL 3 PARTS TO THIS ASSIGNMENT MUST BE COMPLETED AND TURNED IN BY Monday, AUGUST 12, 2024 @ midnight

Goals: Read, Review, and notate Chapters 1 and 2 in Analysis, Argument, and Synthesis (Pages 1-18)

DIRECTIONS AND LINKS: 

Chapter 3: Students will Read, notate and complete the exercises in Chapter 3 to review the rhetorical methods discussed in Chapters 1 and 2.

*****Plagiarized work will receive a 0 with no make up- Write your own answers, don’t just copy.

******All work must be complete and turned in by the deadline to receive full credit.  Incomplete work will receive a 0.

Chapters 1 and 2: 

Directions For each chapter:  On a Word Doc or Google Doc, create comprehensive notes.

PART 1: Ch. 1 and 2 notes

1.     Read the chapter - See link above

2.     Write your notes on the chapter

3.     YOUR NOTES MUST INCLUDE:  (LABEL EACH SECTION: KEY TERMS, EXAMPLES, TAKE AWAY)

a.     Key Terms/ key concepts

b.      Define key terms and concepts

c.     Write examples

d.     Explain examples

e.     at the end of each section, put a TAKE AWAY:

                                          i.    A TAKE AWAY SECTION INCLUDES YOUR THOUGHTS / ANALYSIS about each section

Part 2: Ch 1 and 2 Review Questions

4.   Using complete sentences, answer the Review Questions at the end of Chapter 1 (p. 10) and Chapter 2 (p. 18)

1.   Read SPECIFIED sections in Chapter  3  in Analysis, Argument, and Synthesis.  (See links above)

2.   Read Page 19: Background. Take notes on 19.   Also, remember Ethos, Pathos, and Logos when answering the following questions. (nothing to turn in for this point, just read and note)

3.   Read pages 27-28 twice:  “Barriers to Seeing” by Freeman Patterson

A.    After your first reading, answer FIRST READING questions 1-4 pg 29 (Use complete paragraphs with embedded examples)

B.    During the second reading, highlight and annotate the essay.  Carefully note the impact of particular words, phrases, and details within the text.    Be ready to pull your notes up on the computer during class)

C.    Answer SECOND READING questions 1-4 pg. 29 (Use complete paragraphs with embedded examples)

       It is optional.  HOWEVER, IF YOU COMPLETE THE EXAM and score a 2 , YOU WILL RECEIVE 25 BONUS POINTS  (These points are awarded for completing the exam)

PLUS : (There's more....The better you do, the more points you will receive)

4 =   +25  

5= + 35
